Birthday card for Janice

My lovely friend at work - Janice, recently celebrated her birthday, and this is the card I made for her

I used some new papers ( real bargains from The Works) and some older dies

The little hanging sign is part of a very old Marianne set, you can use it with a lantern to make a lamp post or you can do as I have done and turn it on it's side for a completely different look

I used a Martha Stewart punch for the border and most of the flowers are Prima

I will be back soon with possibly a Christmas card !

Thankyou

I am finally up to date with my blogging. Everything else has gone to pot, but, at least I have caught up with sharing the cards I have made in the last few months

This card was a commission.
My neighbour asked me to make a thankyou card for a couple of the nursing staff who have been looking after her.

The weather has certainly started to change now and I was inspired by the colours outside the window

The card was for both male and female staff, so although I added lots of flowers, I did stick to strong colours and the burlap ribbon added some texture

I will be back tomorrow with a birthday card

60th birthday, 2nd card

As promised yesterday, here is the second card I made for my lovely friend Sue

This one was made for the girls at work to sign

There are three panels as you unfold this card, so plenty of space for all the girls to sign

We had a wonderful day out, afternoon tea at the local garden centre and delicious it was too.

Many thanks to Sue's husband Paul and the ever lovely Jenny for helping to make the special day happen, it was all a surprise to Sue so it did take some planning !

60th birthday

This card was made for my good friend Sue, who recently reached a milestone birthday

The verse sits neatly on the return of the front of the card

I made Sue a second card, for everyone we both work with to sign, I will be back tomorrow with that card

Get well soon

Another couple of get well soon cards made this summer

One was for my Auntie Maggie and the other for my neighbour Mary, who were both diagnosed with the exact same illness at the exact same time

Similar in style and colours, both were made with the same range of papers and toppers

Almost there with the catching up, just a couple more cards to share and then I must crack on with Christmas !

Anniversary wishes

Going all the way back to May for this little catch up

This is the anniversary card I made for Neil

Lots of hearts and flowers. Neil is one man I can make a 'pretty' card for, just another reason why I love him so much !

Love always

Spiderman

Masculine cards are always a challenge ( do I hear a collective sigh of agreement ? )

If in doubt, I try and find a hobby/interest/theme pertinent to the person I am making the card for - not everyone appreciates an abundance of flowers and frills

This card was for my daughter's boyfriend Ben, who is into all manner of interesting topics, this year I decided to opt for Spiderman and used an old Cuttlebug embossing folder for the textured background

The sentiment is a Stampin' Up one

Simple but effective I think

Get well soon

It has been a terrible year for making get well soon cards, I think I have made as many of these as I have birthday cards

Hoping the rest of this year and next year is a much healthier one for my nearest and dearest

80 years young

This was an extra special birthday card for a special lady

I made a 'flip' style card, which was a nightmare to photograph but looked really pretty in real life

Still wading my way through older cards but definitely getting more up to date now.

New Home

Again, another card from a little while ago

My daughter Amy and her boyfriend Ben recently moved out of their student accommodation and now have a new home together, still in Leeds but their own this time and in a 'nicer' area

They have a little garden and the inside is lovely too, they both have full time jobs and seem happy and settled = happy and settled mum too !

Loved making the quirky shape and playing with all my dies

Wishing you much love and happiness in your new home sweetheart

Best Wishes

Another card from 'way back when'

I am not sure I will ever catch up, but, at least I am finally finding my mojo again.

I got to the point of looking at some of my stash yesterday. I didn't actually get it out and I didn't actually make anything, but I did think about it

I also bought a couple of little paper pads on my last trip in Newquay and Neil bought me some Christmas papers when we went to Truro

New stash does always inspire me, so maybe I need to get them out and start stroking them if nothing else

Hoping this beautiful weather stays a little while longer

From the archives

Another card from the archives

Working my way  slowly through the photos on my Mac

The weather remains glorious here in Cornwall, t-shirts and flip flops are still being worn, most of the trees are still lush and green, Autumn seems a while off yet !

Note to self, must start thinking about Christmas cards

Happy birthday

Playing catch up

Another birthday card, this one was for someone special

Lots of distressing and tearing, shabby chic and ultra feminine, my favourite kind of card to make

There will be no order, or rhyme or reason to the order in which I share my makes from the last 3 months, I just aim to upload and blog my way through my camera roll.

Love and kisses

No apologies

Sorry, not sorry !

I have been a terrible blogger, mojo for blogging had wandered off

I am not sure it is entirely back, so please excuse me if this is not artful nor chatty, but it is a start

Thank you for the kick up the a*** Jan

So, no apologies ( I have been living life to the full here in sunny Cornwall, enjoying the amazingly warm summer and all that it entails)

A quick and easy birthday card, not for anyone in particular this time just one to keep in my stash in case I need one pronto

I hope I still have the occasional reader over here at Sandy Toes and if not - well, hey ho, I am used to talking to myself anyway

Love and kisses

Get well soon Mary

Another card to share from last week

Yes I am still making get well cards

This time this card was crafted for my dear neighbour Mary, who has been under the weather for quite a while now

I found some cute little journalling cards in my scrapbooking stash and thought they would make pretty details on cards too

Flowers are Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts
Leafy dies are all from China
Sentiment is Stampin' Up

Get well soon Mary, hope the docs get to the bottom of all your mysterious symptoms soon

Love and healing wishes

Fancy chipboard oval was from The Works

Hope you had a wonderful weekend Margaret

Sympathy card

I made this card For Robbie to give to one of his customers

The lady in question has always been lovely to Rob, he takes the time to chat with her and is genuinely interested in what she has to say, and that is reciprocated, so she made him very welcome when he started work

Sadly she recently lost her mum and Rob wanted to let her know he was thinking of her

It was his idea, not mine, so very proud of him

I hope the card gave her comfort to know someone was thinking of her

Love and kind thoughts

Ann number 1

I had two friends with birthdays in the same month, both called Ann, so I cheated and created variations on the same design

This first one was inspired by a gorgeous card I found on Pinterest

I followed the Pinterest link and Lyssa gave brilliant instructions to the fold, you can find the instructions HERE if you fancy giving it a go

It was a little awkward to photograph, it unfolds concertina style and folds back up  - flat,  to fit into a standard envelope

I really like the graduated sizes of the three layers, thankyou for the inspiration Lyssa

I will be back tomorrow with a variation on the design that I altered to create a card for Ann number 2

Love and fancy folds

Thinking of you Trish

Yes I am back with another get well kind of card

This one was created for my friend Trish

Trish is always the first to think of others and is kindness personified, so, when I recently found out she hadn't been well, I wanted to let her know I was thinking of her and hoping she is much better soon

I wanted the card to be bright and cheerful just like Trish

All the dies used on this card, except from the oval - which is Spellbinders,  are from China, the little banner pieces at the top of the card are made using a Stampin" Up punch

Papers are also a stack bought from China

Get well soon Trish, I hope you are getting all the treatment you need, lots of love to both you and David

In other news

Neil just found the most gorgeous vintage shipyard sign

We both fell in love with the typeface, colours and especially the 3D copper ship, with the stunning patina

We picked the sign up from a little farm just outside Newquay and it was a good job we took the campervan, not sure it would have fit in the car !

The perfect finishing touch for the hallway

Love and vintage vessels
